365 selfies

Iza von Eyben in Gothenburg, Sweden is creating 365 selfies...

Why did you decide to do this project? To break my own boundaries. Its a cliche but Sweden is a very narrow-minded country and I'm working every day to not be a part of that mindset.

A way to make every day a dress up day, to say fuck you to all of those who criticize the selfie-phenomenom, to not take the whole "identity-thing" too serious and a chance to be someone new every day.

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life? I've just started but I feel like the love and the response I get gives me energy. Its simply just fun.

By Nature

Susanna von Eyben in Gothenburg, Sweden is creating Avnaturen (Swedish for "By Nature") a daily photo project on Instagram...

Why did you decide to do this project? Thanks to the book A Daily Creativity Journal by Noah Scalin that inspired me. I think and work a lot with sustainability in my profession as interior architect and I want to be more conscious about what's made of mankind and what is really true natural things around us in daily life.

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life? I just started with one picture taken on each day. I have already found out that during my day in the city it is hard to find, but when I come home in evening in the countryside we have it by nature all around us in everything. I look forward to a year of open mind.

Bild & Mat

Camilla in Sweden was inspired by the Swedish edition of my book to create her own daily project Bild & Mat...

Why did you decide to do this project? I like food and I like painting and drawing. I eat often, paint and draw too seldom. Maybe one painting every second year. So after have read your book the 365: A Daily Creativity  Journal (Kretivitetskalendern i Swedish) I decided to start my own daily project.

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life? Since two months ago I make an illustration every day inspired by what I have been eating or drinking, or something in relation to that. It really makes me happy although I´m not satisfied with the result every day. However, for me this is a part of the project too. Not having so high exceptions of my self. Better to make something than nothing. And to be honest I have actually been surprised, in a positive way, over the result many days. I just do it for fun. I don´t have any education in this field.

Brother and Sister Projects

Helle & Vincente Göransson in Göteborg, Sweden are using my book to create Brother and Sister Projects...

Why did you decide to do this project? I found the book in a store where they sell funny and inspiring things. I thought that it could make my days less boring. And so it did! We've taken the tasks really serious and the outcome have been really funny and great :) me and my brother loves creativity and new thinking so this book is just perfect for us!

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life? This is not a daily project for us but we do it every time we meet. It has become a routine kind of. It's challenging and exciting. It makes the world such an interesting place. Life changes colour for a moment and you can stop thinking of any other problems you may have. I don't do things I don't love on my free time. I love this book. It really makes my life better! Thank you!

One experience was when we went out in the woods, in the middle of the night, to build things out of trees. We built them inside of course :) We sat for five hours creating that night/morning :)

p.s. You can find the Swedish language version of my book 365: A Daily Creativity Journal in many online bookstores.

Anna's A Pattern A Day

Anna Johansson in Sweden is making Ett Mönster Om Dagen AKA A Pattern A Day

Why did you decide to do this project? There are a thousand things I want to do, but I get tired just by thinking of all that is possible. Instead, it becomes nothing. But last Christmas I received a book; 365: A Daily Creativity Journal. One project. One year. Ok, let's go. My 365-day project starts here, January 2012. A pattern a day, for one year.

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life? First of, the insight that creativity has its ups and downs. All the time. Always. I'm more confident that my passion and ideas will endure.
Secondly, the best way to make room for new ideas is by executing the current ones.

Johanna's 365 Creations

Johanna Wilk in Stockholm, Sweden is making 365 creations. She explains, "Tried to decide to do ONE thing or style, but couldn't, so now I do 'an act of art' every day. Could be anything, a drawing, painting, installation, stop-motion etc. The only criteria is that it shall not be of any function at all, no 'second meaning' than just...art-something. Art for art's sake."...

Why did you decide to do this project?  For about 3 years I have done no artistic things at all, for different reasons. All inspiration and motivation went down the drain. Couldnt find one single reason to do anything that didnt bring me money or had some ”value”, art felt just like adding to the stack of ”unusable things” that doesnt do anyone any good.

On the other hand... when I was younger, and during my life, art has been the thing I do when Im down, or up, or as a gift to people I love, or to amuse myself, or just because I have that idea, or... And now is the time to wake that in me again, in short; Thats me.

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life?  Ok, today I'm on day 6:-) I have fun! It helps me to let go of the worst part of that inner judge that has stopped me doing this for quite a while. Which is a bit hard, 'cause ”you get good at what youre doing” – and I havent done any drawing or painting for a looong time.... But the only focus now is to get it done, what, how or level of achievement is totaly irrelevent. And that will most certanly do something with me – after 365 days!

Kreativitetskalendern!

I recently got a copy of Swedish edition of 365: A Daily Creativity Journal! It's called: Kreativitetskalendern: 365 sätt att förändra ditt liv...

This is the first time I've seen one of my books translated to another language and it's a delightfully odd experience! Hopefully I make sense in Swedish.

If you happen to be a Swedish speaker I hope you'll pick up a copy, it appears you can find it in many online bookstores and I'm sure your local bookstores can order it for you as well.

Now I'm just waiting to see the Chinese edition!
