Sonny Pictures

Sonja Schoemaker in Almere, The Netherlands is shooting photos of things that are pink every day in her project Sonny Pictures...

Why did you decide to do this project? I decided to start the 365 pink project in the time I had lost my job. I wanted to learn more about photography and my Nikon camera and to keep myself in to a daily creative motivation.

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life? My project is today 159 days old. I haven't missed a day of shooting a pink picture and I already learned a lot of things like tenacity and proud. I have started to look different at things. Documenting my daily (pink) pictures is like a diary for me. It keeps me positive and motivated. For me it is a lot more than just shoot a photo a day.

To help myself at non-inspirated pink days I got by with a little help from my Matryoshka dolls. They are already my dearest friends.

[365] Prints & Patterns

Esther Jongste in Boazum, the Netherlands created the [365] Prints & Patterns project...

Why did you decide to do this project? The reason why I decide to start my 365 project was to discover if there was enough inspiration available to make a career shift and to become a professional surface pattern designer. And at the same time to improve my skills and express myself.

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life? From the start I felt pretty much at home with the process in creating something every day. Even on days where I hadn't a clue where to find inspiration for the challenge of the day, I came up with something reasonable.

For example: to create a pattern about a dream [day 27], seems to me quite difficult. While thinking about the process and the experience of dreaming, slowly the creation revealed for my eyes. You can read and watch the rest of the story HERE.

After, round and about, forty editions, my mission was accomplished and I knew there would be enough inspiration every single day.  And that moment was the turning point where I decided to exchange my 365 project into a new project: becoming a professional in surface design.

A series of e-courses at Pattern Observer followed and with that, the courage grew to make it all happen.

Since the beginning of 2014 my EM | Surface Design Studio is a fact. I developed a portfolio and a website tuned to the textile design industry as relevant tools to get into business and be successful.

To support my business activities I am planning to start a new blog. The main goal is to show what my inspiration sources are. By joining the 'make something 365 & get unstuck' project I now know that inspiration can be found always and anywhere.

That your project will bring you, where you want yourself to be.

A Daily Creativity Journal

Ineke Jansma in The Netherlands was inspired by my book to make A Daily Creativity Journal...

Why did you decide to do this project? I decided to do this project because I wanted to be more creative. I had read about your book in a Dutch magazine and decided to buy it. Than after reading it I started on 1 January 2013.

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life?
  • This project has affected my life, because now I know how important it is for me to be creative. I found out when my website was suddenly disappeared. I have done my best (with help) to built a new website.
  • I sometimes tell people about my website and this is a big step for me: being proud of what I make.
  • I lost my job and that’s not easy to deal with. Because of this I cannot be creative everyday on the other hand I know how important it is for me to be creative. That’s why I have decided this week to continue this project every other day. Also I decided to asked you again to put me on your site with my new website.
  • Your book takes me out of my comfort zone, because I do things I never had thought of by myself.

A Silhouette A Day

Helmi Coenders in The Netherlands is making A Silhouette A Day...

Why did you decide to do this project? Relaxation, meditation or a small moment of happiness. I try every day as something "ice cream" to which I happy. It is also a big stick to regularly draw. Not many colors, rather it is black/white. Form is important and also a contour. This creates a silhouette every day. This is a small addition to my existing blog.

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life? After a graphics program, the A.B.K. Maastricht (fashion) and a pedagogical/didactic training work today in art education. The silhouette is important in the fashion world. In this project I try every day to draw a silhouette. It can be anything and not necessarily on mode. I do this mainly for FUN!

The 365 days project I necessarily need to be fruitless. With a few comments, contacts and happy I am satisfied.

Marieke's A Flower A Day

Marieke Rolloos in Delft, the Netherlands is making A Flower A Day...

Why did you decide to do this project? I wanted to do a year project to inspire myself. I choose to make flowers, because they make me happy. I want to share with other people, that's why I put the flowers somewhere in Delft. Other people like it and give positive feedback. It makes them smile!!!

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life? Because of this project I came up with new ideas and projects. I am giving creative workshops and this project inspires other people as well. That is very nice! It is a positive project with "good news", it makes people happy. I think the world can use that! ;-)

365 Prints and Pattterns

José Kranen in Panningen, The Netherlands is making 365 Prints and Patterns...

Why did you decide to do this project? I'm a graphic designer with a passion for fashion. My dream is to combine these two and be a print and pattern designer one day.

How has doing a yearlong/daily project affected your life? In a short time i expanded my portfolio big time from zero patterns to 137, when my project ends on september 1th that will be a total of 365 patterns. Because i have the 'duty' to blog about my experiences every thursday i take the time to really draw a pattern every day. Normally i wouldn't take that time and make lame excuses. And the greatest thing about this project is that i'm getting more inspiration every day and i'm learning so much along the way. It's like i'm giving myself a 'design prints and patterns' course. I'm hooked and working hard to let my dream become reality!
